Marika Graves

Co-founder

Marika is an owner of Boomshine Distributors, a small boutique company representing a number of South African craft brands and an international Irish Whisky brand. Boomshine is a national distributor providing end-to-end sales and marketing solutions to events, activations, menu development and logistics clients.

Jono Marcus

Co-founder

Jono returned to SA in March 2019, after working in the USA alcohol industry for 7 years. His career in the USA was shared between an international beer company, a brandy distillery and a whiskey distillery, giving him a broad knowledge and appreciation of other categories of alcohol. "People joke and say that I get paid to drink. I prefer to say I make a living getting to meet interesting people!"

STORY

Twisted Sparkles was conceived to create innovative products that broaden the scope of what is currently available in the beverage industry, specifically related to drinks that are ‘better for you’. Inspired by Jono's time in the USA, the idea to produce Africa’s first hard seltzer, acategory of beverage that’s sky rocketing, was born.
On the other hand, Twisted Sparkles is 100% transparent to its contents unlike the alcohol industry as a whole. Which is strange because bottled water, by law, must have a nutritional label on it but there is no law that says alcohol must too. Like food, consumers should be encouraged to think about what they are putting into their bodies and back into the environment. Twisted Sparkles is here to create a change in mindset, be category leaders in Africa, and give consumers a fresh drinking experience.

PHILANTHROPY

Twisted Sparkles was built with a purpose. We’re a brand with a ‘giving’ culture and one that not only measures the value we create for shareholders but the value we create for our community. So as part of our business model we implemented our very own ‘Drinking for a Cause’. Fifty cents of every can sold will be donated to a registered NPO.
